Join us in Swansea for an informative event dedicated to exploring the world of type 1 diabetes. Discover the latest developments in type 1 research, hear from experts in the field and connect with others living with type 1. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with type 1 for years, this event is designed to provide valuable insights, support and inspiration.
This is a family-friendly day, open to adults and children affected by type 1 diabetes along with health care professionals. There will be entertainment provided for primary school-aged children throughout the day.
We look forward to a day filled with education, empowerment and community and can’t wait to see you there.
Throughout the day, you’ll hear from a variety of speakers, including expert healthcare professionals and individuals living with T1D, sharing their experiences. Each session will cover a range of engaging and informative topics, including research, wellbeing, type 1 tech, and much more. Additionally, there will be a lived experience panel discussion, where audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions about various aspects of managing and living with type 1 diabetes.
Our Discovery Days are centered around bringing the type 1 community together. Therefore, at this event, we will be running sessions centered around facilitated conversations and peer support. During these sessions, you will learn more about specific type 1 related topics, be able to share your experiences within them, and connect with others who share similar interests.
The technology exhibition is open all day for you to access. Within the exhibition, you will explore the range of devices and technologies available to help manage type 1 diabetes. You will also be able to chat and ask questions to a variety of type 1 tech companies, including Dexcom, Medtronic, Insulet and many more.

This is a recording of JDRF's Virtual Discovery Event which took place on 10th January 2024. We explored approaches and ideas around the themes of nutrition, mental health, physical activity and socialising.
Our ‘Virtual Type 1 Diabetes Discovery Event: Females and Type 1 Diabetes’ will highlight the hormonal variances of how being a female can affect our blood sugar control and that this variation is normal.
Physical activity and movement can affect your blood glucose levels, especially when living with type 1 diabetes. During our ‘Virtual Type 1 Diabetes Discovery Event – Physical Activity, Movement and Type 1’, explore how being active impacts the way we manage type 1 diabetes.
Our ‘Virtual Type 1 Diabetes Discovery Event – Mental Health’ discusses the challenge of managing type 1 diabetes and the impact it can have on your mental health. We discuss how to recognise the signs of others struggling with mental health, how you can support loved ones and to showcase coping mechanisms.
