Join Team Breakthrough T1D for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and grab your next Abbott World Marathon Majors star. We’re so excited to have secured a handful of charity places. You could join the party while raising vital funds for type 1 research.
The Cape Town Marathon promises to be an experience like no other. Take in the city’s vibrant culture and atmosphere. With the Table Mountain in full view and its oceanside route, it’s no wonder that the Cape Town Marathon is known as one of the world’s most beautiful marathons.

Please complete our form to apply to join Team Breakthrough T1D. We will then respond to your application within one week to confirm whether or not we can offer you a place.
Apply for a charity place
The Cape Town Marathon organisers hold a general entry ballot for those wishing to take part. If you have applied, you will find out whether or not you have been successful by end of June 2026.
If you are successful in getting a place in the general ballot and would like to support Breakthrough T1D, please complete our Own Place form.
Whether you have a charity place or a ballot place, join Team Breakthrough T1D and you will receive the following:
*Running tops will be sent out two to three months before the event to all runners who have raised £100 or more for Breakthrough T1D.
