JDRF has now rebranded to Breakthrough T1D.
Our name has changed, our mission has not.

Policymakers

At Breakthrough T1D, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of everyone living with type 1 diabetes by actively participating in advocacy work. Explore our position statements, policy briefings and reports and resources.

Our approach to policy

Our goal is to shape healthcare consultations regarding access to new treatments and technology. You can learn more about our efforts in influencing policies that affect people with type 1 by exploring our comprehensive policy papers.

Collaborating with healthcare providers

A crucial aspect of our work involves actively engaging and responding to consultations from public bodies such as the National Health Service (NHS), the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and the UK and Devolved Governments.

We contribute real-life case studies, gather insights from academic experts and healthcare professionals, ensuring that the unique needs and challenges of people with type 1 diabetes are taken into account when making healthcare decisions and developing guidelines.

We regularly publish our policy positions on key issues related to type 1 diabetes. These positions are based on expert research, input from the type 1 community, and the valuable insights provided by individuals and professionals in the field. By making our positions publicly available, we aim to raise awareness and advocate for necessary changes that will enhance the lives of everyone living with type 1 diabetes.

Collaborating with Government

We actively engage in efforts to influence government policies through briefings and meetings with Parliamentarians. By working closely with policymakers, we strive to ensure that the concerns and voices of the type 1 diabetes community are heard and addressed.

Through strategic advocacy, we aim to drive policy changes that enhance access to innovative treatments, support research funding, and improve overall healthcare for all individuals with type 1 diabetes.
