JDRF sends profound condolences to Alex’s family

We are very sad to announce the death of Alex Langham, the son of Clare Parsons and Tony Langham and brother to Theo Langham, long-time supporters of JDRF. Alex was a fun loving, hedonistic free spirit who lived life the way he wanted to. He died in a tragic accident on 19 March 2022, partly as a result of a severe hypo resulting from his diabetes.

Alex was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 3 and Clare says, ‘I threw myself into JDRF when Alex was diagnosed as a 3-year-old. It helped me to cope and come to terms with what Alex had to manage. It gave me hope. I needed to know that there is a worldwide scientific strategy that would work harder, and more efficiently, than any other organisation – to find a cure.’

As a family, they have participated in every single JDRF One Walk since its inception in 1998 and have raised thousands of pounds for JDRF. Clare served as a trustee on the JDRF board.

Karen Addington, JDRF UK CEO, says, ‘Our profound condolences go to Clare, Tony and Theo at this terribly sad time. We will continue to work our hardest to ensure that one day no more families will suffer like this. Type 1 diabetes is a cruel condition and one we need to get rid of for good.’
