We are delighted to announce that Her Majesty The Queen will continue to support people living with type 1 diabetes as our President.
Karen Addington, JDRF Chief Executive says: “We are delighted and incredibly grateful for Her Majesty The Queen’s continued support as our President, helping us drive forward research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.”
In June 2023, we were honoured to welcome Her Majesty to the University College London (UCL) Institute of Immunity and Transplantation.
This is where Professor Lucy Walker is working on research to stop the immune attack responsible for type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune conditions, funded by our Connect Immune Research partnership.
Professor Walker carried out a tour of her state-of-the-art laboratories where Her Majesty learnt how immune cells from people living with type 1 diabetes are studied.
We’d like to thank Her Majesty The Queen, on behalf of all our researchers, supporters and JDRF colleagues for her continued and invaluable support.
