Actor Rhea Norwood has been announced as the newest ambassador for Breakthrough T1D. Since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in 2022, Rhea has used her platform to raise awareness and connect with others facing similar challenges.

Known for her role as Imogen Heaney in Heartstopper and, more recently, as Sally Bowles in the West End production of Cabaret, Rhea now brings her passion and dedication to her role as ambassador, with the goal of inspiring and supporting young people living with T1D.

Rhea’s role as ambassador will focus on highlighting the unique needs of young people managing T1D, whose daily lives, education, work and social lives are often impacted by the condition.

Rhea says:

“As a young woman living with type 1 diabetes, I have experienced firsthand the daily challenges and complexities this condition brings. I am excited to join Breakthrough Type One and bring a passion for raising awareness, supporting others in our community, and advocating for those affected by Type 1 diabetes. I’m especially passionate about opening up conversations about the difficulties women navigate with this condition. Ultimately, I hope I can show that we can lead full, empowered lives with the right support and determination.”

Karen Addington, CEO of Breakthrough T1D, adds:

“Rhea’s authenticity and influence make her a powerful voice for young people living with T1D. We’re thrilled to have her as an ambassador and look forward to working together to raise awareness and create a more inclusive, supportive environment for everyone living with the condition.”
