Register for a charity place in the Berlin Marathon

The Terms and Conditions of your participation in the BMW Berlin Marathon 2026 which is an agreement between you and Breakthrough T1D UK to participate in the BMW Berlin Marathon 2026. You must agree to the terms and conditions below which also constitute the fundraising agreement between Breakthrough T1D UK and you, as a participant, which is required by law. You will not be able to register for one of our places unless you tick the box indicating that you have read, understood and agree to these terms and conditions. 1. I warrant (i.e. confirm) that I will be over the age of 18 on Sunday 27 September 2026. 2. I acknowledge that I take part in the BMW Berlin Marathon 2026 at my own risk, and it is my responsibility to undertake appropriate training and follow appropriate medical advice in relation to my participation. 3. I will pay a non-refundable registration fee of £50 to secure a charity place with Breakthrough T1D UK in the BMW Berlin Marathon 2026. I understand that, until this has been paid, my place with Breakthrough T1D UK will not be confirmed. The registration fee does not contribute towards my fundraising target. 4. I will use my best endeavours to raise money for Breakthrough T1D UK in connection with my participation in the event and, in particular, aim to raise a minimum sponsorship pledge of £1,200. I understand that I will not be fundraising for Breakthrough T1D’s international affiliates. 5. I will ask all sponsors (unless they are donating via my online sponsorship page) to complete a sponsorship form which will include an option for sponsors to ensure their donation also attracts Gift Aid and I understand that I must only use the sponsorship form(s) provided or approved by Breakthrough T1D UK. 6. I understand that Gift Aid does not count towards my fundraising target. 7. Sponsorship money is given by way of donation and once given is generally non-refundable, even if I fail to take part in, or withdraw from, the event and, if necessary, I will tell my sponsors this. 8. Breakthrough T1D UK reserves the right to withdraw my place in the BMW Berlin Marathon 2026 should I fail to demonstrate commitment to raising the required amount. In the event of my place being withdrawn I understand that the £50 registration fee will be non-refundable. 9. I understand that Breakthrough T1D UK will give a four-week deadline after the event has taken place to collect all sponsorship money in. If for any reason this is not possible, I will let Breakthrough T1D UK know before the four weeks is up and send them any money I have already collected. Any extensions to the fundraising deadline will be given at the discretion of Breakthrough T1D UK. 10. I will immediately inform Breakthrough T1D UK if anything happens which puts my participation in doubt. 11. Breakthrough T1D UK does not accept any responsibility for any injury, loss or damage incurred during participation in the BMW Berin Marathon 2026. 12. I understand that my charity place is granted on the basis of a hotel & entry package and that I will be required the book my accommodation in Berlin via Breakthrough T1D UK’s travel partner. I also understand that I will be responsible for covering the cost of my accommodation. 13. I understand that it is my own responsibility to arrange travel to the event, and that Breakthrough T1D UK are not liable for any cancellations or other issues that may arise in relation to this. 14. I understand that, should I need to withdraw from the BMW Berlin Marathon 2026, there may be the possibility of deferring for one year only. This will be at the discretion of Breakthrough T1D UK and cannot be granted until Breakthrough T1D UK’s involvement in the BMW Berlin Marathon 2027 has been confirmed. 14. I confirm I have read, understood and agree to all the terms and conditions set out above. We recommend that you print and keep a copy of this agreement with a note of the date on which you accepted its terms and conditions.
