Mother and child baking together in kitchen

A Tea Party is any simple get-together with tea, coffee or treats. It can be a coffee morning, a bake sale, an afternoon tea or even a teddy bears’ picnic. If it brings people together to chat, connect and give, it counts.

Set up a fundraising page or pop a collection tin on the table and you’ll be surprised how quickly donations grow as people catch up.

Diabetes Awareness Week: 8 – 14 June 2026

A lot of people think they understand type 1 diabetes (T1D), until they meet someone living with it. This week is about slowing down, talking and helping more people understand the reality of T1D.

Organise your own Tea Party, coffee morning or bake sale this June to spark conversations about T1D and raise money for life-changing research.

Your resource pack include a printable 4Ts poster, so when you’re sharing a bake, you’re also sharing life-saving information about the signs of T1D: tired, thirsty, thinner, and going to the toilet more.

Why the Breakthrough T1D Tea Party?

The Tea Party was a great excuse to get all of our family and friends together in the garden on a lovely Sunday afternoon as well as encouraging everyone, no matter their age, to help with the event by baking.

We had bakers ranging from 10 to 83 years old and we raised just shy of £1,400!
