There is a specific issue affecting the NovoRapid PumpCart 1.6ml cartridges, which are used in the mylife YpsoPump insulin pump. This means that while some people may be able to continue using PumpCart for now, others may be asked to switch to using NovoRapid vials with YpsoPump reservoirs, either temporarily or permanently.
If you currently use PumpCart cartridges, your diabetes team may ask you to switch to NovoRapid vials and fill YpsoPump reservoirs manually.
Your GP should now prescribe 10ml vials of NovoRapid instead of PumpCart cartridges.
If you receive your pump supplies from your hospital, they will arrange for you to receive YpsoPump reservoirs.
If you order directly from YpsoMed, we recommend placing an order for YpsoPump reservoirs now, so you have them ready when your PumpCart supply runs out.
YpsoPump reservoirs are made of glass, which means it is safe to pre-fill several in advance.
If you’ve recently switched to using vials and reservoirs, we recommend monitoring your glucose levels more closely during the transition. If you have any concerns, please speak to your diabetes team.
If you’re already using NovoRapid vials to fill your pump, this shortage will not affect you.
You can find more information about the mylife YpsoPump insulin pump reservoirs and watch a video guide on how to use them. For further support, you can contact YpsoMed by email at Info@ypsomed.co.uk or call their customer care team on 0344 856 7820.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and share updates as they become available. Our priority is to ensure that everyone affected by type 1 diabetes has the information and support they need to manage their treatment with confidence.
