Busy scene of passengers moving through an airport

We know that travelling can be stressful at the best of times, so travelling with type 1 diabetes can make things even harder. That’s why we actively support the work of campaigner and Breakthrough T1D UK supporter Rachel Crawford. We are aware that many insulin pump and CGM users have experienced problems at airports, and also entertainment venues that use x-ray/body scanners. But, things are improving and Rachel’s campaign continues to raise awareness amongst airport and security authorities.

Medical Device Awareness Card

Rachel has worked tirelessly to introduce a new Medical Device Awareness Card for those with type 1 diabetes to use when travelling abroad. The card, now available to download, has been launched in partnership with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Airport Operators Association (AOA).

We have also pulled together some statements from the medical technology companies regarding imaging scanners.
