About One Walk Aberdeen

We’re thrilled to invite you to One Walk Aberdeen – our flagship North Scotland event. Join us at the beautiful Deeside Activity Park for a meaningful and fun-filled family day out in support of type 1 diabetes research.

Choose between a 5K or 10K walk through the stunning Aberdeenshire countryside, alongside others united in the mission to cure type 1 diabetes.

This is more than just a walk – it’s a celebration of community, courage and progress. Register yourself, family and friends and start fundraising today!

Location

Deeside Activity Park, Dess, Aboyne, AB34 5BD. [View in Google maps]

Cost

£5 per adult/child ticket (under 5s go free). You’ll then be asked to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship for Breakthrough T1D.

Timings

10am: Event Village opens
11am: Warm-up and opening ceremony
11.15am: Walk begins
3pm (approx): Finale and event close

Walk routes are currently under review with the local council and subject to change. We’ll update you on any confirmed changes. Be sure to wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather.

What support do I get?

  • A free Breakthrough T1D T-shirt to wear on the day and an exclusive One Walk 2025 medal to celebrate your achievements.
  • Full support with your fundraising, including tips on how to reach your targets and access to free fundraising materials.
  • Access to our amazing Breakthrough T1D community via our Facebook group, where you can post updates and get advice from your fellow fundraisers.
  • A dedicated member of our Events team who will be on hand to answer questions.

This year, returning walkers will also receive a special Returner’s Badge to recognise your continued commitment to the type 1 community. Make sure to let us know when you register — we want to celebrate your dedication.

What else can I expect?

Looking for a bit of speed? Take on the onsite go-kart track for a discounted £20 session (15 minutes).

Kids can join in the action with “arrive and ride” mountain biking sessions, hosted by RIPA — perfect for keeping little legs moving and smiles wide.

Enjoy food from Louise’s Farm Kitchen. Have a hearty breakfast roll on arrival and, once you’ve crossed the finish line, treat yourself to Louise’s famous hog roast and lamb roast rolls.

Other highlights on the day:

  • Children’s activity area: inflatables, face painting, and games
  • Breakthrough T1D hub: meet our team and celebrate our T1D heroes
  • Pop-up stalls and local crafts
  • Exhibitor area: showcasing the latest in type 1 diabetes tech
  • Dog-friendly: well-behaved pups on leads are very welcome!
